Speech language therapy
The objective of speech-language therapy is the assessment, diagnosis and management of speech, language, communication and swallowing disorders.
In the beginning of each school year students are assessed for:
- The functional and structural adequacy of the orofacial mechanism
- The function of the hyposystems of speech (articulation, phonation, resonance, prosodic features and breathing)
- Cognitive development
- Morphology-phonology, use and context of language
- The ability to communicate in spoken and written language
- And swallowing
After assessment has been concluded and the priorities have been set for each student, long-term and short-term goals are specified for each individual and those goals comprise the context of speech therapy sessions that are conducted individually.
