Our School
Schools of Special Vocational Education are self-reliant schools of Special Education, that are administered by Secondary Education Administration. They are addressed to students with diagnosed serious special educational needs, which are result of:
a) specific handicap (intellectual disorder, intellectual immaturity , sensory problems , autism etc.) ,
b) multiple disabilities (intellectual disorder with sensory problems or with autism),
c) Complex cognitive, emotional and social difficulties that are certified by recognized medical educational services.
In Chios this school was typically established by decision of the Ministry of National Education and Religious Affairs, but was virtually opened in October 2003.It is accommodated in the premises of Chios KEKYKAMEA.
Studies last for five to eight years according to the educational needs of each student. Also the certificate of studies is equivalent to the title of obligatory education (certificate of studies in High school) and gives students the chance to work in places that belong to the local authority..
Today at school there are 30 students at the age of 13-24 years old separated in 6 sections depending on the speciality, order of study but also the relationship between students.
There are three specialisations. a) garden floriculture, b) tourist occupations and c) handicraft
